Type Installation

I created a typographic installation in a selected space on the Graphic Design floor of the Richmond Building at Western Michigan University. The initial goal of this project was to develop the installation in response to two randomly assigned design-related websites. In the process, I chose to reject certain ideas presented by the site focused on the 10 Principles of Good Design—specifically the notions that “good design is long-lasting” and that it should be “as little as possible.” Instead, the conceptual direction of the installation is inspired by a quote from Makoto Fujimura: “A culture that downplays the pursuit of beauty also loses its appetite for Truth and Goodness.”
