Rangoli is a conceptual branding and website project for a Nepali-style restaurant in Kalamazoo that explores how cultural ritual can be translated into a digital experience. The project is rooted in the tradition of rangoli, a South Asian practice of creating temporary, decorative ground patterns to welcome guests and invite prosperity, luck, and positive energy, which becomes both a visual language and a metaphor for hospitality. The website is designed as a digital threshold, using pattern, color, and repetition to guide users through the space and evoke invitation, movement, and care, while reflecting the ephemeral nature of rangoli itself. The logotype draws inspiration from the Devanagari script used in Nepal, abstracting its forms to balance cultural specificity with contemporary readability.
